Arthur Robert's Story
Life
After my freshman year at Clayton HS I finished up at Admiral Farragut Academy; then to SUNY Maritime College, graduated in 1968 with a USCG Third Mate's license. Three days later, I joined the S/S AUSTRALIAN ISLE bound for Africa. Three and a half years, several ships and a bunch of sea miles later, I went to Law school at American University, joined a small Admiralty law firm in 1975; stayed there until the firm was absorbed by a larger firm in 1995. Practiceing Admiralty and Immigration law; May 2011 I left the big firm and opened my office close to home, concentrating on business immigration and federal grant management
Got married in 1973, had a daughter, Casey in 1983 and a son, Drew in 1985, separated in 1996, had a son, Nicky in 1998 and got divorced and remarried in 2000. We now live in Valley Forge, PA. Casey graduated from Princeton in 2005 and Drew from Franklin & Marshall in 2008. Casey finished medical school in Grenada and graduated June 17, 2015 from St. George Univ.. hnemann (Drexel) Hosp and is now an oncology fellow at Lankenau Hospital In Dec 1998 she had our first granddaughter, Stella Beatrice and in Sept 2021 our second, Ruby Mae. Drew left a position as an account exec with Independence Fish Co and in spring 2015 began with Merrill Lynch which was not a fit. Now he is a store manager with Trek bicycles. In 2016, my younger son, Nick, graduated from Phoenixville Aras HS where he was active in theater and chorus. Nick attended Temple University graduating in 2020 with a BS in geology. He is now a Geoscientist with a hydrological consulting foirm Couple years ago, I sold my first car, a 1967 MB 250 SL and got a 1950 dodge pick-up that I fooled around with until I realized that it would never be done and would cost a boatload of money so I sold it in June 2009. I still play in a stage band (trombone). As of May 1, 2011, I opened my own law office after 35 years with just two firms. So far, I'm enjoying it. Didn't realize how unhappy I was at a big firm. All told, I'm enjoying myself.
